In this course we will cover some advanced black and white lab techniques to help you improve your workflow and get the most out of your images.
Splitgrade Printing
Split-grade printing is an alternative method for controlling contrast when enlarging on multi-grade paper. Instead of using individual filters for each paper gradation, two consecutive exposures are used with the extreme filters "0" and "5".
This results in deep blacks, finely drawn lights and nuanced intermediate tones. This method allows for improved control over image contrast.
Dodge & Burn
By using dodge & burn, individual areas of the image can be specifically brightened or darkened. This is particularly true in combination with the split grade technique.....
sepia brown toning
Browning black-and-white prints using bleach and sepia sulfur toner is a popular method for subsequently changing the color of black-and-white images.
