Description
The Splitgrade basic device.
This unique system facilitates and accelerates the production of high-quality Black and white photos on multigrade paper.
By simply measuring the highlights and shadows of the projected negative, the user first determines the contrast and expsosure time.
For over 30 predefined paper calibrations, a first suggestion for the correct exposure is then calculated to exactly 1/10 aperture and gradation level.
The unique filter control with shutter function automatically converts these values into a split exposure.
In addition, there are no limits to all conceivable manual corrections and post-exposures. Image results are produced much faster and creative work is encouraged - not restricted.
In order to work, you additionally need a Heiland LED cold light source fitting for you enlarger.
The combination of both products SPLITGRADE + LED cold light source results in a unique variety of magnification options.
The entire work process is extremely comfortable; for example, white light for focusing is activated with just one push of a button on the Splitgrade.
The exposure time and gradation are then determined within seconds.
You also have the option to choose whether you want to work with mixed light (like with a traditional multigrade head) or with split exposure, which is also favored by a large number of well-known photographers.
You can also switch on the red light separately for positioning paper or dodging tools and start the exposure directly from the red light using the foot switch.
Additionally, a shutter function is included automatically, as the LEDs switch on and off within 1/100 s.
And you can dim the exposure intensity in the range of 3 stops according to the magnification scale. This enables the same functionality as a neutral density filter.
Creative magnification is encouraged with Splitgrade and the LED cold light source – not restricted as is sometimes claimed.
The user can also select or change the exposures manually, i.e. without a light sensor
